Courtney + Sam's - Val Vista Lakes Wedding

When Courtney and Samuel first approached me about photography for their wedding, I asked her to describe the theme. Her answer? “Rustic cowgirl fairytale princess”. An answer which I absolutely adored. From the pastel-pink colored mason jars to the rose petal and pearl adornments, Courtney and Sam’s wedding was the ideal blend of a romantic western peppered with a dash of feminine whimsy.

Courtney and Samuel have been inseparable ever since they first met on Match.com. When Samuel first popped the question, Courtney knew she had the opportunity to plan a wedding both representative of both of their personalities. Shades of pink and silver were the chosen wedding colors and all of the western and fairytale elements were planned around that, including the parting favors for guests: lollipops and cookies, including cookies for the puppies at home.

On the morning of the wedding, I met Courtney upstairs at the Val Vista Lakes where her hair, makeup and dress were being prepared. The wedding dress (from Demetrio’s) was elegantly lined with crystals and completed by matching peep toe pumps.

On June 1, 2014, the couple and their families gathered for a traditional wedding ceremony outside at Val Vista Lakes on a stunningly gorgeous day. The ceremony location was set in the outdoors of the venue hall in front of a free-flowing waterfall, lake, trees and sandy beaches.

The ceremony was simple yet stunning, featuring James as their handsome ring bearer. And later, a father walking his daughter, soon to be bride, down a rose petal covered aisle.

Soon after the ceremony completed, guests were invited to mingle at the gazebo on the impressive lawn of the Val Vista Lakes to enjoy cocktails and Mexican food. Courtney and Sam invited a caricature artist for guests to enjoy as a small keepsake of the event. Guests were also invited to take boat rides on the lake.

As Courtney and Samuel entered the catering hall, the reception began with the new couple enjoying their first dance as bride and groom. The wedding cake (provided by Custom Created Cakes by Brandi) was three-tiered with rhinestone embellishments (and featured an adorable cake topper of a bride, her groom and his football).

It was a rustic, cowgirl, fairytale wedding indeed. One that Courtney, Samuel and their guests are sure not to forget anytime soon.
